Why Should I Keep a Water Bottle With Me?
This is a question many people here themselves say all the time. We have all heard the saying that you must always drink water. You need to drink half your body weight in water daily, or 8-10 glasses per day, or what about your body is made of mostly water you need to replenish it all day long. The answer to these saying changes all the time and honestly how has that much water intake?
The truth is that your “Our body is 90 % water. As per the recommendations 35ml/ kg body weight of water is suggested. Approximately 2.5-3 liters per day. Water is restricted only in patients with chronic kidney disease and congestive heart failure. Water helps in maintaining the body temperature, is required in metabolism, flushes body wastes, cushions the brain, spinal cord, and other sensitive organs, helps in maintaining the blood pressure, and has many more functions.” Says Aparna Nemalikanti (M.Sc. Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics · 10 years of experience).
There are several reasons why you should keep bottled water:
- · Drinking more water delays hunger pangs and random cravings. It also increases the body’s metabolism.
- · Adequate hydration prevents blood clots that could jeopardize the oxygen supply.
- · Skin is the largest organ of the body.
- · Water helps keep the cartilage around joints hydrated and soft.
- · Bottled water is very convenient, and bottles are recyclable.
- · Different companies that provide bottled water offer an array of flavors to their customers.
- · During emergency situations or natural disasters, bottled water is a necessary and reliable alternative to deliver clean, safe drinking water.
- · FEMA recommends that all households maintain at least a three-day emergency water supply — approximately 1 gallon per person per day — for drinking, personal hygiene, and cooking. FEMA also notes that bottled water is the safest and most reliable emergency supply of water.
With all this in mind, it is important to remember that we should consume more than just water for optimum health. Fruits, vegetables, and healthy proteins should be part of a balanced diet. Additionally, vitamins and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and potassium are essential for overall health. Drinking plenty of water can help the body absorb these nutrients faster so that they are utilized much more efficiently. Furthermore, when it comes to selecting bottled water for daily use, be sure to select a brand with little or no sodium content. Doing so can help reduce the risk of developing high blood pressure and other chronic diseases. By making smart choices and staying hydrated, we can ensure that our bodies are well taken care of!
In addition to the health benefits of drinking water, it can also have environmental benefits. Water conservation is key to helping reduce the strain on our existing resources. By opting for reusable bottles instead of disposable ones, we can help reduce plastic trash and keep our planet clean. Furthermore, drinking tap water is a great way to conserve water and save money in the long run. Utilizing a filter system at home or simply carrying your own refillable bottle can have a tremendous impact on your daily water consumption.
Lastly, while it is important to stay hydrated, be careful not to over-consume. Drinking too much water can cause hyponatremia, an electrolyte imbalance caused by drinking excessive amounts of water. Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, cramps, fatigue, confusion, and in extreme cases, seizures or coma. Therefore, be sure to drink plenty of water each day but not excessively.
By staying aware of our hydration needs and making the effort to meet them with suitable choices such as drinking filtered tap water or healthy drinks like coconut water, we can help ensure that our bodies are running at peak performance.
So why wouldn't you keep a bottle of water with you everywhere you go? It is one of the best things you can do for your body!
